Girdle or no girdle after birth.

For a few days we have been wondering if a girdle would be of any use to help the tummy muscles go back to their normal state (that is the one before pregnancy). We have been looking and asking around and it seems that a girdle would be of no use. It could even have the adverse effect.
The tummy muscles contribute a great deal to hold your tummy, back and whole body. This is they are in tension and do strength to keep your body structure. This tension exercises your tummy muscles and helps them to go back to their original shape. By wearing a girdle it is the girdle that do that tension and not your muscles, thus they do not exercise. It seems that that best way to recover the shape is mild exercise. If you have gone through this you can let us know your tips.

I have 2 boys and they are a year and 9 days apart,so I was basically pregnant for 18 months and I have given birth with an epidural and without and I would definitely reccomend having one,but back to the tummy mucles having now regained my shape,There are 2 things I would reccomend the first can be done now and it is an exercise for the lower abs which became seperated during pregnancy and it goes like this: take a deep inhaling breath and push your stomach out as far as it can go,then release the breath slowly drawing your stomach in it helps to imagine that you are trying to make your belly button touch your spine(an impossibilty but the imagery makes it easier to understand what you are going for) do this as often as you can in the weeks leading up to your post partum appointment.then once your dr gives you the ok to resume working out (not too heavily just before a feeding as too much exercise can cause your milk to sour for that feeding)get the yoga for your pregnancy dvd,it has a really good gentle workout for post partum regaining of shape and flexibility.it will also help if she gets pregnant again to have a fit pregnancy.I didn't use it with my first son and I gained 67 lbs,I did use it with my second son and between that and chasing#1 I only put on 30 lbs which is the reccomended weight gain for someone of my size(I'm only 5'2 and about a 105 lbs)also and I can't stress this enough DO YOUR KEGELS!!! if you don't it can lead to incontinence and doing them will help your uterus get back down to prepregnancy shape quicker. also not doing them will make it so that any sudden pressure such as a cough or sneezing will likely cause her to wet herself, which doesn't help with fight against post partum depression.also when ever you guys are ready to resume the activites that caused his birth have lubricant(water-based) on hand as the first time will most likely be somewhat painful at first, breastfeeding can cause dryness which also adds to the discomfort
